A Body and Other Objects
What if we forgot all that we know about our body, only to find the lost innocence and discover what it is capable of doing and all that it holds within? The show redefines the human body as matter, as object, as container. Through the objectification of the body, the piece creates a poetic and explorative space which blurs the distinction between body and object and between the genres of circus and dance.

In Ifè, the language spoken in the Atakpamé region of Togo, Afuma is the name of an aerial fern that grows on raffia which is used to make stilts. When, in 2012, this Togolese group of waders decided to set up their artistic ensemble they gave it this very name to mark their wish to constantly improve their skills. In their shows they present their ancestral traditions enriched with numerous innovative ideas of their own.
