Dear Audience, We know you’ve been waiting for this! It is with great pleasure that we present the repertoire for the first months of the new theatre season — a season we are just as excited about as you are! 

We will open the 49th artistic season with a grand open-air spectacle: “Polish Chronicle 1025–2025” on Krakow’s Main Market Square (September 13th, 6:00 PM). But that’s not the only show we have in store. On September 26th, we invite you to Podgórze Market Square, where you’ll be able to see the performance “A Dream of Podgórze, or Mr. Bednarski Walks Halfway Across the Bridge” directed by Paweł Szumiec, featuring songs by Andrzej Sikorowski. More details coming soon.

What can you look forward to in the 2025/2026 theatre season?

2nd EDITION OF THE BODY AND TIME FESTIVAL

The second edition of the Body and Time Festival will take place from October 5th to 12th. This year, the festival line-up finds itself both with nature and against it. A wide range of events awaits you: master performances, competition shows, workshops, discussion panels, and meetings with the creators.

The Tuner of Combs

September 19th, 8:00 PM

“The Tuner of Combs”, directed by Krzysztof Niedźwiedzki, is an unsentimental story about universal truths of life, spiced with just the right amount of essential dark humor. This is a performance that balances on the edge of two worlds — it draws you in, entertains, and, like most of KTO Theatre’s comedies, leaves you with something to reflect on.

BERTOLT BRECHT,YOU TEACH US HOW TO LIFT THE DRESSES

September 20th, 8:00 PM
December 6th, 8:00 PM

This performance takes the audience on a journey through the iconic songs of the legendary duo Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. It explores dark and frenzied longings for lost love, memories of sleepless nights, and irreparable losses. Desire, lust, and rebellion unfold in bold interpretations by actors from Krakow’s leading stages, accompanied by live music.
The production is directed by one of the foremost experts on Brecht Professor Józef Opalski.

ARCADIA

September 27th, 8:00 PM

The performance “ARCADIA” is a visually stunning tale about life and its many stages. Through impressionistic scenes filled with movement, color, and sound, the show invites us to slow down and notice what truly matters. At times, it will have us laughing out loud; at others, it will stir a deep sense of nostalgia.

SZEKSPIRIE

October 24th, 8:00 PM

“Shakespeareas” is a dance collage of alternative visions of the heroines from Shakespeare’s tragedies and their coexistence. The dancers of the Krakow Dance Theatre create movement-based interpretations of the disordered thoughts of Ophelia, Lady Macbeth, and Juliet — uncovering hidden dimensions of these literary figures, and of ourselves.

SHAKESPEARE’S SONNETS

October 25th, 8:00 PM

Director Małgorzata Warsicka and composer Karol Nepelski transform Shakespeare’s classic verses into a modern and captivating performance. Instead of academic solemnity, they offer a kind of Shakespearean playlist — a carefully curated selection of emotional hits about love, jealousy, passion, and the passage of time. These sonnets resonate today just as vividly as they did centuries ago.

I WAS BOB MARLEY’S WIFE

October 29th, 8:00 PM

This is a musical story in reggae rhythm about Rita Marley — the woman who spent sixteen years as the wife of the greatest Jamaican music star and pop culture icon, Bob Marley, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of rebels against injustice and evil. It is a tale of a complex love that provokes questions about the limits of devotion, sacrifice, tolerance, and a love confined within the strict boundaries of the Christian Rastafari movement.

A REPORT TO AN ACADEMY

November 8th, 8:00 PM

A hybrid performance with live music that blends elements of dance theatre, performative actions, and dramatic theatre. This wide spectrum of expressive forms creates the grotesque language of the show, revealing the tension between the yearning for freedom — sensed in a lost connection with nature — and the alienating force of culture.

INK FOR THE LEFT-HANDED. A COMEDY OF THE ABSURD

“Ink for the Left-handed”, directed by Krzysztof Niedźwiedzki, is a theatrical game in which four actors with boundless imagination uncover limitless layers of verbal and situational comedy hidden within everyday, seemingly ordinary events. It’s a contemporary comedy where not even a trace of literalness can be found — a playful, absurd take on modern life.

THEORY OF HUMAN FATIGUE

November 15th, 8:00 PM

A collective session of slowing down a reflection on the search for relief in a world that runs 24/7. Today, we have no time for anything, we work more than ever, and constantly push the limits of the human body. According to research, one in five people experiences symptoms of exhaustion. Perhaps it’s high time to take a stand and challenge the all-consuming cult of success.

HOW WE F*CKED IT ALL UP

November 27th, 8:00 PM

The performance “How We Fcked It All Up”* is a spoken-word and musical session in which the creators examine the events and ideas that have shaped the foundations of our civilization for millennia. The central question posed to the audience is: Why do we, as humanity, keep making the same mistakes over and over again? This is a comedic show that, through wit, humor, and grotesque exaggeration, aims to “disarm” our fears, traumas, and frustrations.

Only two premieres are scheduled before the end of the year: “A Dream of Podgórze, or Mr. Bednarski Walks Halfway Across the Bridge” (written and directed by Paweł Szumiec, with lyrics by Andrzej Sikorowski) and Café Luna”(directed by Józef Opalski). More details coming soon!

We also have some surprises in store for you. This year, you’ll be able to celebrate both St. Andrew’s Eve and New Year’s Eve at KTO Theatre. Trust us — these will be unforgettable nights.
