The Tarabumba Circus

Cyrk Tarabumba (The Tarabumba Circus) is an unusual form of theatrical circus show where instead of animals there are puppets (“super-marionettes” of animals in their natural sizes). It bears reference to the tradition of circus art, but replaces the suffering of animals with the beauty of puppet theatre, emphasizing the need to respect all sentient living beings. The production in the form of a “super-marionette” non-violent circus is one of the first initiatives of this type in the world.

Informacje o wykonawcy
Teatr Klinika Lalek (The Puppet Clinic Theatre) was founded in 1988 at the puppetry department of Wroclaw’s theatre school. In 1991, the company then moved to Wolimierz – a small village at the foot of the Jizera Mountains, and since then it has operated as a rural and itinerant puppet theatre troupe. In its shows actors and puppets coexist with each other and next to each other, thus creating stage characters together. The company has performed all over Poland, in most European countries and also beyond Europe (China, Taiwan, Iran, Cuba). Since 2013, it has been the host of the International Festival of Theatres for Children Dziecinada held in Wrocław.
