Architectural accessibility

LOCATION

KTO Theatre is located in a building within a row of tenement houses at 50 Zamoyskiego Street.

Access by public transport:
The nearest bus stop is Rondo Matecznego (600 m away), bus lines: 144, 164, 169, 173, 179, 301, 304, 469, 513.
The nearest tram stop is Smolki (200 m away), tram lines: 8, 10, 18, 22, 50, 52, 62, 69, 76, 82.

The theatre can also be reached by bicycle (nearest ZTP bike rack: Zamoyskiego 50, Smolki 8) or by scooter (nearest mobility points: Zamoyskiego 39 and Werneńczyka).

PARKING

The theatre does not have its own parking facilities. The nearest parking space for persons with disabilities is located approximately 50 metres from the entrance. Parking is free of charge for holders of a disability parking permit. The pavement at pedestrian crossings has lowered kerbs.
 

BUILDING ENTRANCE

The entrance to the building is at ground level. There are no obstacles preventing wheelchair access. The glass doors do not have automatic door openers, as they are equipped with fire safety (panic) mechanisms. The doors have high-contrast markings, and a video intercom is located directly next to the entrance to call for assistance.

You may enter the theatre and all its premises with an assistance dog or a guide dog.

 

BUILDING INTERIOR

The box office with the reception desk and the cloakroom are located in the main hall, approximately 5 metres from the entrance door on the left-hand side. The counter is lowered and accessible for wheelchair users. The service point is equipped with an induction loop system.

There are no high-contrast or tactile floor markings indicating circulation routes.

The corridors in the building are wide and allow for wheelchair movement.

The office rooms are located on the first and second floors. They can be accessed by stairs or by using the lift.

Stairs

The staircase leads to the upper floors. The flight of stairs consists of 7 steps, each 17 cm high. A handrail runs along the entire length of the stairs.

Lift

The lift is located at the end of the corridor (on ground level, opposite the accessible toilet). The doors open automatically and are 90 cm wide. The cabin measures 140 × 110 cm. The buttons are labelled in Braille and in large print, and the lowest button is positioned at a height of 105 cm. The lift is equipped with voice announcements.

STAGE

The theatre auditorium is accessible for people with mobility impairments and is located on ground level.

The seating arrangement in the auditorium is flexible and depends on the performance being presented; however, in every case, a designated space for wheelchairs is provided, as determined and indicated by the performance staff. The auditorium is accessed through threshold-free doors. There are no high-contrast or tactile markings at the entrance to the auditorium.

During performances, an induction loop system is available (central, portable, mobile).

Toilet

The accessible toilet is located at the end of the corridor in the main hall on ground level. The door opens outwards and there are no obstacles preventing wheelchair access to the bathroom. The toilet is equipped with grab rails to facilitate use and a baby changing table.

Our performances may include special effects such as strobe lighting, loud sounds, or stage smoke. Details can be found in the performance descriptions in the PERFORMANCES section.

If at any point during the performance someone feels uncomfortable, the front-of-house staff will assist them in leaving the auditorium. The theatre does not have a designated quiet room; however, during the performance you may rest in the foyer – the space is calm and quiet, and the lights are dimmed.
