Spaces of Art – Dance is a nationwide programme aimed at supporting the independent artistic community by creating stable conditions for the development and presentation of artistic work. In the years 2026–2028, KTO Theatre serves as the regional operator, becoming an important point on the dance map of Krakow and the Małopolska region.
KTO Theatre is, above all, a place of encounter. As part of the Spaces of Art programme, we collaborate, among others, with the Krakow Dance Theatre, the Krakow Choreographic Centre, and the foundations: Crush on Trash, Milla, and Łagodnie. Our goal is to create an ecosystem of dance culture in Krakow and the region, based on cooperation between artists, institutions, and local residents.
We support the production and presentation of performances. Through a system of artistic residencies and open calls, we provide independent creators with access to the theatre’s infrastructure, giving them space to experiment and realise their original choreographic visions.
We focus on developing competencies. We organise workshops and meetings (including Akademia Krytyxx and Krakow Dance Cinema) that support artists in the professionalisation of their work and enable the city’s residents to gain specialist knowledge.
Dance is for everyone. Our activities — including family workshops, dance parties, and participatory projects (Open Bodies) — engage the residents of Krakow, promoting the inclusion of diverse social groups in cultural events.
Promujemy ruch jako źródło dobrostanu. Wykorzystujemy taniec jako narzędzie wspierające zdrowie fizyczne i psychiczne, pokazując jego terapeutyczny potencjał (Restorative, Dance for PD).
The Spaces of Art – Dance programme is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance..
