Ashes is an open-air, physical theatre production featuring live music, dance, choral singing, puppetry and a cast of 16 performers and musicians. The show addresses an underlying and growing feeling that permeates our current era and culture: the future is uncertain. The capitalist narrative of ‘bigger, better, faster’ has failed us. The world is burning – and we, who have set it on fire, are quickly becoming aware of our own vulnerability. In the face of the unfolding climate catastrophe and the reality of war, seen on social media feeds, the Antagon ensemble explores the question: when all has turned to ash, what remnants of our culture might still remain? One thing is certain: every end brings with it a new beginning.
