Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute has collected data from all over the country on the activity of Polish theatres after they reopened – from 12th to 21nd of February 2021. The collected information and the current pandemic situation prompted the IT Expert Group on Theatres in Pandemic to prepare a LETTER TO THE AUDIENCE, an excerpt of which is published below.

Dear Audience!

After many months of waiting and uncertainty, as of 12 February, 2021 theatres in Poland can again invite the public to their premises, subject to safety rules and a limited number of seats in the auditoriums.

In the first 10 days since we were allowed to organise artistic events in theatres all over Poland, there were as many as 32 premieres, and in 114 theatres in 39 cities we performed 584 shows. We estimate that during this time around 55 thousand people spent an evening in the theatre.

We are proud that the theatre community in our country is so large. Your presence and involvement confirm our conviction that we are needed.

We look forward to seeing you in almost a thousand theatres – municipal, national, foundation, association, independent theatres – all over Poland. See you there!
