Recognised–Unrecognised

The performance refers to the work of the world-famous artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, who died in 2017. Similarly to the works of this outstanding sculptor, we are offered here an autonomous artistic expression, touching on primary issues, and in particular the issue of freedom and enslavement of the human individual, and even entire communities. By presenting an individual against the background of a collective, the artists reflect on the essence of human identity, what stimulates us to act and what are the effects of these actions. Full of movement and visuality, the performance takes you on a journey through the history and experiences of nations, mainly European. There are also echoes of broader historical references, which only enhance the universality of the message.

Theatre of Shadow Evolution | Poland

Wioletta and Sławomir Dadej’s Theatre of Shadow Evolution, founded in 2008, specializes in physical theatre with much emphasis on visuality.  Their performances, sparing in means, are characterized by a specific poetics of the image supported by an illustrative music. The main weight of the story is put on a human being accompanied by an ascetic stage set. In their activities, the artists always explore universal themes and look at their evolution from a historical perspective.
