God is either dead or not fulfilling His duties.
“Eros and Psyche” is a Ukrainian performative theatre piece that attempts to answer a question present in every person facing the experience of war: “When will all of this end?” Can it be calculated mathematically? Will the wisdom accumulated over centuries help? Has an appropriate artistic language been found to explain it?
God is either dead or not fulfilling His duties. Darkness and despair are approaching from all sides. War is engulfing the world, and more and more people are losing their homes, friends, and relatives. What do we do when no religion, faith, or ideology can save us and the world? We turn to science, philosophy, and art—can they answer the question of when the war will end?
In the performance, through mathematics, physics, philosophy, contemporary and traditional art, as well as the creators’ own experiences, the piece speaks about coming of age and new responsibility, about love and separation during war, and about a state of extreme uncertainty.
