Prokofiev Died Today

The plot of the show Prokofiev Died Today begins on 5 March 1953, the day of the composer’s death, and due to the paradox of history – also the day of Joseph Stalin’s death. So, where can you find flowers for Prokofiev’s funeral when they have all been sold for the funeral of the Generalissimus? This is the problem faced by the protagonist of the play, Dmitri Shostakovich. His frantic search for flowers is interwoven with flashbacks from the lives of both composers, showing the tragedy on an artist in a totalitarian state. However, the main role here is played by the music of both composers: played from recordings, performed on unusual instruments, sung and danced (also on rollerblades).

Informacje o wykonawcy
The Mumerus Theatre Association was established in 1999. In terms of programme, it implements only new and risky ventures.
