Checkmate!

“Checkmate!” is a danced tale about the game of chess. The characters, inspired by chess pieces animated by the movement of performers, refer to important social topics. The queen is a symbol of power and the resulting costs. The king is a metaphor for the struggle for domination, political divisions and cultural conflicts. The pawn is an everyman, entangled in globalization, unification and patterns of social behaviour.
